FreezeSmart
This was my final project for Web Design 3
Overview
FreezeSmart is reimagining portable cooling with a line of rechargeable, ice-free coolers built for today’s outdoor lifestyles. Designed for adventurers, travelers, and mobile professionals, FreezeSmart offers energy-efficient cooling solutions powered by rechargeable batteries or standard outlets, eliminating the inconvenience of melting ice.
This project focused on designing an e-commerce experience that reflects the brand’s values of convenience, performance, and sustainability. The goal: build an intuitive and visually engaging product platform that makes shopping seamless and informative for a broad range of users.
Problem Statement
Traditional coolers are bulky, ice-dependent, and often unreliable. Outdoor enthusiasts are tired of dealing with melting ice, soggy contents, and the inconvenience of restocking. FreezeSmart addresses this challenge, but needed a digital storefront to match its forward-thinking product.
Design Challenges:
Create a streamlined online shopping experience for a growing DTC (direct-to-consumer) brand.
Clearly present different product models by use, price, size, and energy efficiency.
Ensure accessibility and usability across demographics, from first-time buyers to tech-savvy explorers.
Design Process
I began with a comparative analysis of competitor e-commerce platforms like Yeti and RTIC to identify usability strengths and gaps. I also conducted qualitative user interviews to understand shopping preferences, cooler usage, and lifestyle needs.
Sample Questions:
What frustrates you about shopping for gear online?
How often do you use a cooler, and for what types of activities?
Would a rechargeable, ice-free cooling system improve your experience?
What size or features do you prioritize in a cooler?
Key Insights:
Users wanted a trustworthy, efficient cooler, but many found existing online stores cluttered or confusing. They valued transparency, product clarity, and the ability to easily compare models. The idea of eliminating ice resonated strongly, especially among active, mobile users.
Ideation and Wireframing
Based on research insights, I mapped user flows and sketched early wireframes in Figma with a focus on here are the wire frames that ended up being used for mobile, tablet and laptop:

Final Product
The final design is a responsive, conversion-focused e-commerce site that empowers users to explore FreezeSmart’s full product range with confidence. The platform brings together clean design, user-centric navigation, and brand storytelling to create a shopping experience as innovative as the product itself.
